Creating a seamless multi-OS environment. Running Linux and Windows and share data easy with insync between OS and running shared config for applications like Remote Manager.

Hi!

I got it working last night and wanted to share the news with you.

Goal

Ensuring uniform configurations across diverse operating systems poses a notable challenge. In the initial scenario, the objective is to deploy a remote application consistently across all machines, maintaining identical configurations. Furthermore, this requirement extends to encompass a broader spectrum. Any application affording the option to designate the location of configuration files or databases stands to benefit from this approach. It is imperative that the proposed solution is compatible with both Linux and Windows operating environments.

Solution

An image conveys meaning more efficiently than words, particularly for individuals with proficient spelling and reading abilities (like me)

What do you need to make this a possiblity

  1. insync
  2. google drive, onedrive or dropbox account
  3. RemoteManager

What does this cost

Almost free….

insync 30$ (2023-02-01) per account

Configuration

Setting up Insync involves choosing your preferred service and selecting the files/directories you want to sync.

For RemoteManager, you just need to specify a directory that is synchronized using Insync.

Concluding this journey, the integration of Remote Manager has been successfully extended across all the machines within my network. This implementation has not only streamlined accessibility but has also facilitated the synchronization of configurations seamlessly. The interconnected system now ensures that configurations are consistently mirrored across every machine, providing a unified and efficient operational environment. This accomplishment not only enhances convenience but also signifies the effectiveness of a well-managed and synchronized configuration strategy across diverse computing devices.

Keep Hacking!
